PERCEPT Attends White Cane Day Event
White Cane Day, October 15, is a nationally observed day in the United States. The white cane is a mobility aid used by visually impaired users. This is not just a tool though, this is a symbol of independence for many white cane users. This event was held at the state house in Boston and there were several talk about white cane awareness, white cane users sharing their own personal stories, as well as a talk given by the PERCEPT team member James Schafer on what PERCEPT is and how it could also help a visually impaired user achieve independence by complementing the white cane users with navigational instructions.
