5G Labs at Universal Design and Assistive Technology Conference
The 5G Mobile Evolution Labs attended the Change Peoples Lives: Universal Design and Assitive Technology in Massachusetts in Boston at the Hynes Convention Center on September 23rd http://www.changepeopleslives.org/. This conference features exhibitions from over 100 companies and providers across the Massachusetts Commonwealth and nation. The purpose of the expo is to provide a venue to connect people with meaningful opportunities to explore Universally Designed products, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Assistive Technology (AT) and to raise the profile of these tools to the general public and policy makers. The lab had a booth showing off their project PERCEPT, an Indoor Navigation System for the Visually Impaired. A picture of the lab and the booth can be seen below with people starting from the left to right, Professor Aura Ganz, James Schafer, and Yu Xunyi.
The lab prepared a movie for Percept that gave both the motivation and demonstration of the system. They also prepared a poster and handouts for the event. At their booth they had a 120 inch Projector Screen displaying the movie as well as showing the different components of the system live to the many confrence attendees.
